The Switzerland of India - Dalhousie



All those who have been to Dalhousie will well understand as to why this is known as the Switzerland of India. The natural beauty, those snow-covered peaks and those panoramic views around cannot be compared to any other hill station. On top of that, the colonial charm of the place adds to the beauty of the hill town.  The hilly town experiences salubrious climate all through the year as well as a steady influx of tourists all through the year. Situated at a height of 000 feet above sea level, the far stretching green meadows   and the mountainous ranges will simply leave you in awe.

What will strike you when you first enter Dalhousie is the colonial style architecture of some of its buildings churches and even some hotels in Dalhousie. The main churches here carry Victorian and Scottish origin. There is plenty to and see here in the town. The place is just perfect for families as well as honeymooners. Dalhousie is also referred to as the valley of milk and honey. The crisp fresh air and lush flourishing vegetation all around will draw you every year and to escape from the sweltering heat of the plains. Just make sure that you book your place well in advance or would have to face disappointment in the last minutes. The peak season ranges from April through September. However, the hill station also gets pantry of tourists in winters that are here to experience the snow.
Some of the popular tourist spots in Dalhousie are Subhash Baioli, Dain Kund Peak, Panchpula, Alah Water Tank, Kalatope Wildlife Reserve, etc. If fond of shopping, visit the Tibetan market.  Some of the must see churches are St. Francis', St. Andrew's, St. John's, etc. Do not forget to visit the Dain Kund Peak, which is the tallest peak here. The hill station is filled with wonderful trails to trek and is just the perfect vacation for all the adventure seekers.
